Bill Gross has founded a lot of startups, and incubated many others — and he got curious about why some succeeded and others failed. So he gathered data from hundreds of companies, his own and other people’s, and ranked each company on five key factors. He found one factor that stands out from the others — and surprised even him.

This is a very compelling TED Talk on what makes startups successful. I found it very eye opening for myself when coming up with ideas for what to work on. I always think of the idea as being the most important and have waited months before starting on an idea to make sure it was the perfect one. I won’t ruin the surprise, so you will just have to watch the video to find out for yourself which factor is the most important.

I would recommend this for all entrepreneurs. It is a quick video that is quite insightful. I would also highly recommend it for any one currently thinking of an idea or doing research as this might be a game changer for you.
